Fawnskin is a little town north of Big Bear Lake. Fawnskin is home of the do dah parade.

Fawnskin is located on the north shore of Big Bear Lake.
History of Fawnskin and Fawn Skin
The history of Fawnskin began in the 1800s. Travellers came to the valley (which is now Big Bear Valley and Fawnskin) on rough road by stage coach and later motorcar. Travellers found Fawnskin very attractive because of Fawnskin ’s mountain terrain. Fawnskin was also a great attraction to vacationers that found the mountain terrain a wonderful retreat from city life. Several hundred homes were built in Fawnskin. Among travellers to Fawnskin were goldminers, lodgers and hunters. They were scattered throughout the Holcomb valley which was very active in the 1800s.
The history of Fawnskin noted that in 1891 hunters were so captivated with the meadow grasses where they set up camp. The grasses were as soft and gentle as a fawn’s skin. Thus, the area became known as Fawn Skin. Later Fawn Skin became known as Fawnskin.
