Question: Big Bear, CA route?
I’m going to Big Bear Lake from Anaheim and Google Maps & Yahoo Maps told me to take the 30 west to the 330 north then to the 18 road that goes around the lake itself. I’ve been to Big Bear in the past and I seem to remember that there are two routes to go and one of them is very steep. Does anyone know what I am talking about? The less steep road takes longer but i would prefer to take it anyways. Is the route that Yahoo and Google gave me the steep way? I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Answer: Sure. You were given the most direct route, aka “the front way”. The “back way” is through Redlands. You take the 10 to University Avenue, turn left, then make a right on Lugonia (highway 38). Follow that all the way into the mountains, past Forest Home, and that takes you into Big Bear.
