Big Bear Lake Mountain Biking

Question: Realistic to bike from LA to Big Bear?
Would it be realistic to bike from LA to Big Bear or at least from beginning of the mountain to the top, city of Big Bear (where the lake is) which is around 35-40 miles?
I know the elevation is 6000 ft. Does ANYBODY bike up there? I surely haven’t seen anybody biking up there when I drove up there last time for the first time in summer.
Thanks in advance for your answers/opinions/thoughts.
Answer: Despite the nay sayers, anti-cyclists, and those who apparently know little about the question they are answering, I can tell you that people DO, in fact, ride up to Big Bear from LA, Rancho, Redlands, etc. There are many cycling clubs that have fairly routine rides up those mountains (I’ve linked some of them below).
Of course it is challenging, but lots of riders tackle all kinds of mountains in the San Bernardino range. You are well advised to make sure you are ready for that much climbing and riding defensively because of motorists who do not drive safely or obey the speed limit. I strongly recommend that you contact a local club and try to be part of an organized ride. This will help ensure your safety, give you some support, help your riding technique by learning from experienced riders, and be more fun. (Riding alone can be great, but boring sometimes).
Good luck and have fun!
