Big Bear Cabin Rentals On Lake

Question: Big Bear Lake, CA trip? (preferably people who have recently been to big bear)?
some friends and i would like to plan out a snowboarding trip up to big bear in Jan. there will probably be about 6 or 7 of us to split the cost of a cabin for like 2 nights.
im trying to get an estimate on how much it’ll come out to be for each of us but not really sure which other expenses i should be looking into. I know we’re going to go snowboarding, so there’s the lift ticket and gear rental, then there’s food, gas and well, lots of booze. lol.
so i guess my questions are:
-how much are lift tickets for each person? and are there any group deals?
-approximately how much is it to rent snowboarding gear (for 1 person)?
-am i missing anything? are there any other expenses that i’m forgetting or should be looking into?
also, if you have and tips or advice on where to find cheaper cabins or what cabins would be best that would be great. or if you have tips on anything else, it would be much appreciated.
Answer: If you are sure that you want to go snowboarding, now is the time to rent. Lots of people wait until the last minute, and everything’s booked. By googling “Big Bear Cabin Rentals“, you can find a BUNCH of sites where you can see photos of cabins. We’ve done this, and have found some pretty nice cabins. The closer you are to the slopes, the better.
Lift tickets run about $56 on the weekend, $43 weekdays
A snowboarding package at Sport Chalet (which I HIGHLY recommend) is $32 for the first day, $20 for each additional day. They will let you come in Thursday night for a weekend rental, and only charge you for Saturday and Sunday. Those folks really know what they are doing. Yeah, they’re good at the resort, too, but I always get the feeling that they are rushed (and they really are). When that happens, quality suffers. You also get some really beat up equipment, especially late in the season. Anyways, I’ve always had a better experience at Sport Chalet and can recommend them.
